The Council for British Archaeology run the UK’s biggest celebration of archaeology called the "Festival of Archaeology":https://bit.ly/3NDO1G8 which is held from 15-30 July. We also know that historical books are incredibly popular with readers, so we have picked 12 brilliant books that share brilliant stories set in the past. The selected books include different genres with a mixture of fiction and non-fiction, so that hopefully everyone can find a book they’ll enjoy. We also have a couple of recordings from historical titles that you may wish to watch: "The Story of Tutankhamun with Garry J Shaw":https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epJOo5scpIE | "Interview with Janet Skeslien Charles, author of The Paris Library":https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xI5EeCAxkLM. We are also pleased to have worked with the Wolfson History Prize in 2022 which celebrates the best, accessible historical non-fiction titles for adults. "Find out about their previous shortlists and winners here":https://www.wolfsonhistoryprize.org.uk/past-winners/. We would love to hear what other historical books you’d recommend on social media using #booklist and tagging @readingagency. You can see our past booklists "here":https://readingagency.org.uk/resources/?q=booklist&programme=chat%2Cquick-reads%2Cahead%2Crgfe%2Chack%2Crwbop%2Crwmbb%2Csrc%2Cteachers%2Cwbn%2Cpaf%2Cfriends%2Cwinter_wellbeing%2Csparks.
